Introducing Wolf Pack Ale – the officially licensed craft beer of the University of Nevada

Wolf Pack Ale will be available soon in six packs and on draft!

RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada athletics department and The Brewer's Cabinet, a Reno-based craft brewery and restaurant, have partnered to produce Wolf Pack Ale, the first officially licensed craft beer of the University of Nevada.

Checking in at 4.9%, Wolf Pack Ale is an approachable Kolsch-style ale with citrus notes. It is expected to be available in the coming weeks in six-packs and draft. Wolf Pack Ale will be distributed by Morrey Distributing, a longtime Wolf Pack partner and benefactor.

"Craft beer is inherently local and we wanted to find a partner that has deep roots in the Northern Nevada community and was open to collaborate on this project," said Chad Hartley, Nevada's associate athletics director for strategic communications, who oversees the school's licensing program. "Our friends at The Brewer's Cabinet checked all of the boxes and we've enjoyed a shared vision for this project. We're thrilled for the launch of Wolf Pack Ale."

Michael Connolly, owner of The Brewer's Cabinet, said the partnership between his brewery and restaurant with the University athletics department was a perfect fit.

"From the beginning of this project, it was clear that the Wolf Pack didn't just want a beer with their name on it, they wanted a long-term partnership on a product that we all hope becomes a fixture in Northern Nevada," Connolly said. "We can't wait for Nevada fans to enjoy this beer at Wolf Pack games starting this fall!"

Wolf Pack Ale will be part of The Brewer's Cabinet's flagship offerings, available at both the restaurant and taphouse  at the California Avenue location in Reno. Wolf Pack Ale merchandise is also being developed and will be available soon.

The project, nearly a year in the making, included extensive discussions about the right style for the beer.

"As we developed Wolf Pack Ale, we wanted a crisp and flavorful beer that would appeal to a wide variety of beer lovers," said Eric Ramin, head brewer at The Brewer's Cabinet. "We're proud of this beer and we can't wait for its release."

Ryan Mitchell, a senior associate athletics director at the University, assisted in the creation of Wolf Pack Ale and noted the possibility of future offerings.

"Michael, Eric and the entire team at The Brewer's Cabinet have been incredible to work with on this project and we're grateful for their partnership." Mitchell said. "Wolf Pack Ale is a great product of this collaboration and we're excited to see what else may develop down the road."

Licensing proceeds from Wolf Pack Ale go to help support athletics scholarships in the Wolf Pack athletics department. The University of Nevada, The Brewer's Cabinet and Morrey Distributing remind everyone to please drink responsibly.
