Boise State takes second match from Nevada

Wolf Pack can't overcome Broncos' scoring runs.

Box Score RENO, Nev. – The Nevada volleyball fell in the second of a two-match series with Boise State on Saturday at Virginia Street Gym. Nevada hung tight at times throughout each set against the Mountain West's second-place team. But the Wolf Pack could not withstand Boise State runs that broke each set open as Nevada fell 3-0, 25-13, 25-11 and 25-14.

Nevada dropped to 3-9 on the year, while Boise State improved to 10-2.

The short-handed Wolf Pack wasn't able to sustain its offensive attack against the Broncos as Nevada hit .063 for the match.  Kassie McGill led the way in kills for Nevada with nine. Andrea Alcaraz had 13 assists and Lexi Applebach had six digs for the Pack.

In the first set, Nevada got off to a 2-1 start early but the Broncos reeled off an 11-0 run to take control of the set and Nevada could not recover as the Broncos won, 25-13.

The second set told a similar story as back-and-forth rallies yielded a 10-9 Wolf Pack lead early on. But the Pack could not snap at Bronco scoring surge that ended up being a 12-0 run as Boise State rolled on to a 25-11 win to go up 2-0 in the match.

Boise State used an 11-0 run in the third set to pull away and close out the match, 25-14.

Nevada will return to action on Saturday, March 20 when it travels for a single match at Wyoming. The next home match for Nevada will be March 27 against UNLV.
