RENO, Nev. –
Grant Sherfield and
Da'Ja Hamilton have been named the Wolf Pack's Co-Student-Athletes of the Week for their performances Feb. 1-7.
Â
Sherfield, a sophomore, dazzled in three games during the week as Nevada topped UNLV before sweeping Boise State at Lawlor Events Center. He averaged 22.2 points to go along with 26 assists, 10 rebounds and six steals to led the men's basketball team.
Â
In Friday's win over the Broncos, Sherfield knocked down the game-winning bucket with 2.9 seconds to break a 72-all tie. He also dished out 14 assists in the game, which tied for second all-time in Nevada's single-game history and in a Mountain West conference game. It also set the MW's sophomore record for most assists in a game.
Â
Hamilton, a junior, also drained a game-winner for the Wolf Pack women's team during the week. She averaged 23 points per game with 15 rebounds, five assists, four steals and a block in leading Nevada to a pair of road wins on the week.
Â
On Monday against intra-state rival UNLV, Hamilton poured in a career-high 32 points as Nevada won a regular season conference game at UNLV for the first time in program history. The 32 points represents the most points scored by a player in the Mountain West this season. With the score tied at 70, Hamilton drained a 3-pointer with 1.3 seconds left to give the Pack the historic victory.
Â
She scored a team-high 19 points in Friday's loss at Boise State and came back with an 18-point effort in Sunday's huge 64-44 win over the defending MW tournament champions. The victory broke Nevada's eight-game skid to the Broncos.
