RENO, Nev. - After a successful Mountain West Championships and second-place finish, the University of Nevada swim and dive team claimed 31 individual and four relay All-Mountain West awards, the conference announced on Monday afternoon. Fourteen Wolf Pack swimmers and divers and four relay teams earned All-Mountain West honors. The top eight finishers in each individual event and the top three relay teams at the Mountain West Championships earned the All-Mountain West designation.
The Pack finished the 2021 Mountain West Championships second with a final team score of 1,340, trailing first place by just nine points. Nevada swimmers and divers collected a total of 19 medals (six gold, five silver, eight bronze) over the meet's 21 events. Junior Julia Adamczyk was Nevada's most decorated performer of the meet, capturing a team-high three gold medals (200 butterfly, 200 IM and 400 medley relay) and two bronze (400 IM, 200 medley relay).
Josien Wijkhuijs clinched All-Mountain West honors in four relay events (200 medley relay, 400 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay) and two individuals (100 butterfly, 100 freestyle). Caitlyn McHugh also paced Nevada, earning three individual (400 medley relay, 200 freestyle relay, 400 freestyle relay) and three relay awards (500 freestyle, 200 freestyle, 1650 freestyle).
On the dive side, all three Nevada divers earned All-Mountain West recognition for their performances. Jessie Nowotny, Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez and Linnea Sorensen notched All-Mountain West honors in the 1-meter springboard, 3-meter springboard and platform dive.
