The Pack hits the road for dual against Fresno State

Reno, Nev. - The Nevada swim and dive team is looking to continue its winning streak on the road against Fresno State on Friday, Nov. 5. The Pack is 3-0 this season.

This will be the 13th time that both teams have faced each other. The series dates back to 2002, and the Pack leads the record, 12-0.

The meet will also be the diving team's debut. Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez, Jessie Nowotny and Linnea Sorensen return to the Pack after being key members in the Mountain West Championship. Vazquez Lopez is on the hunt to defend her Mountain West champion title in the 3-meter springboard. In addition, the dual will be a debut for the Madrid native, Lucia Gabino.

The meet is set to start at 2 p.m. Results can be found at the Meet Mobile app, and on Twitter (@NevadaSwimDive) and Instagram (@NevadaSwimDive) pages from the Nevada Swim and Dive team. A live stream will be available on the Fresno State website here.

LAST TIME OUT

The last time Nevada was in the pool, the Pack swept every event against the UC Davis Aggies and the Cal State East Bay Pioneers at the Lombardi pool. The final score against the Aggies was 167-88, while the meet against the Pioneers finished with a score of 178-77.

ABOUT THE BULLDOGS

The Bulldogs had hosted their annual Chick-Fil-A invite on Oct. 8-9 and finished in fourth as a team. Both divers, Silvia Alessio and Yulia Tykha won the 3-meter springboard, and the 1-meter springboard, respectively. Tykha was named the Mountain West Diver of the week after her performance in the invite.

On the swim side, Senior Darina Khisiamova and junior Athena Clayson had the best team finish during the weekend. Khisiamova placed second in the 1650 free, while Clayson had a fifth-place finish in the 100 back.

Following this weekend, the Nevada swim team hits the road to College Station, Texas, for the Texas A&M invite on Nov. 17-19. The Nevada dive team will have their own dual meet and will travel to Fayetteville, Ark., to compete against Arkansas on Nov. 13.
