COLLEGE STATION, Texas - The Nevada swim team continues fifth-place standing on night two of the Art Adamson Invitational on Thursday.Â
To start the night session, the Pack placed seventh and 13th in the 200 medley relay. The A squad comprised of Josien Wijkhuijs, Wiktoria Samula, Julia Adamczyk, and Colette Berkenfield finished with a time of 1:42.75, while the B squad finished with a time of 1:45.95.
In the 400 IM, Gianni Pitto picked up 10th place with a time of 4:24.90. The senior was followed by Reese Lamph who was placed in 13th (4:27.18). Junior Valerie Kitchens also represented the Pack in the final finishing in 18th, with a time of 4:36.24.
Senior Wijkhuijs posted the top finish for Nevada with a ninth-place finish in the 100 butterfly after finishing in 54.11. The senior was followed by Adamczyk, who finished 14th in 55.22.
The 200 free squad was led by senior, Caitlyn McHugh who finished sixth, with a time of 1:49.19. McHugh was followed by Mariana Vignoli finishing in 15th (1:51.71), Berkenfield finishing in 22nd (1:54.33), and Destiny Kling in 23rd (1:55.01).
Continuing a strong breaststroke tradition, dePolo secured second place, while Samula was fourth in the event. dePolo swam in 1:00.47 and Samula in 1:00.82. Pitto came back into the pool to swim the 100 breast, and finished in 1:03.16 (15th), followed by senior, Mikayla Dance (1:03.59) who finished in 16th. To close the event, Jasko swam in the C-final, securing 19th place, after swimming in 1:03.74.
Closing the individual events, seniors Wijkhuijs and Montana Lloyd represented the Pack in the 100 backstroke. Wijkhuijs swam in the B-final securing 10th place after swimming in 54.96. Lloyd swam in the D-final, finishing in 26th in 57.76.
To wrap up the day, Nevada swam the 800 free relay, finishing in fourth with a time of 7:25.35.
Nevada will be back in the pool tomorrow, Nov. 19 morning for the final day of the invitational, with prelims at 7:30 a.m. and finals beginning at 3:30 p.m.Â
