Reno, Nev. - The Nevada volleyball team dropped its match against the Air Force Falcons on Thursday afternoon. The Falcons closed the match 3-0 after final scores of 25-17, 26-24, and 25-19.Â
Senior Kyla Waiters led the Pack with nine kills and one block, followed by freshman Sia Liilii with eight kills, five digs, and one service ace.Â
Junior, Andrea Alcaraz recorded 24 assists, nine digs, and a kill while senior, Kaila Spevak recorded seven digs and two service aces.Â
As a team, the Pack scored 26 kills and four total blocks and recorded 34 digs throughout the match.Â
In the first set, the Falcons took an early lead, but the Pack was able to cut the score to 13-12. The Falcons continued on the lead after a 3-0 run. Nevada was able to score five more points, but Air Force closed the set, 25-17.
The Falcons continued the momentum in the second set but the Pack tied the game at 13  after an attack error by the Falcons. A great sequence of serves by Reka Monteleone created a two-point lead for the Pack, forcing the Falcons to call a timeout. From that point on, it was a back-and-forth game until the 20-18 mark for the Falcons, where the Pack called a timeout. Nevada was able to tie the game at 24-24, but a sequence of kills by Air Force closed the set in 26-24.Â
In the third set, the Pack was able to keep a close game until the 12-12 mark, where the Falcons had a 3-0 scoring run. Nevada called a time out and cut the margin to 16-14, but the Falcons closed the set, 25-19, to secure victory.Â
