Nevada set to host Wolf Pack Classic at Hixson Park

RENO, Nev. - Coming off a 3-2 weekend in Hawai`i, the Nevada softball team (7-13) is ready to host a four team tournament that will run from March 6-8. The Wolf Pack Classic will feature Sacramento State, Weber State and Pacific along with Nevada.

The Pack will take on Pacific for the second time this year on Friday at 11:30 am before a meeting with Sacramento State at 2:30 pm. Saturday will feature a doubleheader with Weber State with the first game at 11:30 am and the second at 2:30 pm. The tournament will wrap up on Sunday with a third game against Weber State at 2 pm and conclude with Sacramento State at 4:30 pm.

Tickets can be purchased in advance on the nevadawolfpack.com website or bought at the gate with cash or check; $10 for adults and $5 for children and seniors. One ticket will allow access to all games on that specific day.

Promotions for the weekend will start on Friday when fans will see the athletes sporting gold shoelaces to support the fight of pediatric cancer along with representatives from Renown in attendance. The tournament will also be comprised of a book drive for the Renown Miracle Children's Network. Fans are asked to bring new children's books that can be donated to Landon's Little Library located inside the Renown Children's Hospital throughout the tournament.

Along with the promotions for this weekend, the marketing staff will be giving away 200, 2020 Nevada Softball posters on a first come, first serve basis.

Last weekend, the Pack took down Oregon State and Seattle U in back-to-back walk off games. Nevada then beat Hawai`i in the weekend finale after falling to the Rainbow Warriors earlier in the tournament. Kendall Fritz went 3-0 in the circle with 22 innings pitched, 25 strikeouts and a 0.64 ERA while offensively, Danielle Lew was responsible for the walk off single against Oregon State and a walk off home run against Seattle U. Haley Burda also had two solo home runs on the weekend with one against Seattle U and another against Hawai`i.

Pacific comes in with a 13-6 record and will be the second time Nevada matches up with the Tigers this season. The Pack fell to Pacific in a close game, 2-1, in the Libby Matson Tournament just a couple of weeks ago so Nevada will be looking for redemption. The Hornets of Sacramento State are sporting a 13-8 record with its most recent win over UC Davis on Tuesday, March 3 while Weber State is 7-13 and coming off a win over North Dakota on March 1.

Live stats and live streams of all games, including neutral site games, will be available and can be found on nevadawolfpack.com
