RENO, Nev. – Nevada (2-12) suffered a tough road loss at Saint Mary's (8-8) on Wednesday afternoon, falling 11-1. The Wolf Pack is scheduled to play at Don Weir Field at Peccole Park this weekend against Sacramento State for a three-game series from Friday through Sunday.
Tanner Cunha earned the start for Nevada, his first in the Silver & Blue, and tossed 4.1 innings while only allowing three earned runs. He recorded one strikeout on the day.
The Pack offense came alive early, as Dillan Shrum blasted his fourth homer of the year to give Nevada a 1-0 lead in the top of the first. However, thanks to a triple and a sacrifice fly, the Gaels tied the game after one inning of play.
The Nevada offense remained stagnant the rest of the contest, and big sixth and eighth innings where SMC scored eight combined runs put the game out of reach for the Pack. Matt Clayton led the Pack on the afternoon with two hits, and Shrum continued his streak of reaching base in every game this season.
Nevada's games this weekend are scheduled to be broadcast live on the Mountain West Network, and will have live stats powered by SIDEARM.
