RENO, Nev. – The Nevada Wolf Pack women's tennis team fell to Pacific Friday afternoon by a score of 5-2 to open up home play for the spring season.
Nevada took the doubles point with the two doubles victories from pairs sophomore Roos van Reek and freshman
Arina Gumerova and freshman
Anastasia Luneva and sophomore
Selina Turulja. The Pack's lone singles win came on court two where freshman
Ksenia Shikanova claimed victory in two sets, 6-2 and 6-1.
Nevada claimed the doubles point with wins on courts one and three. Led by strong play at the net from van Reek, she and Gumerova ran away with the match on court one, claiming victory 6-1. Luneva and Turulja had a bit of a battle early on court three, but pulled away in the later sets for the 6-3 win. Shikanova dominated throughout her play on court two, not letting Pacific's Dohee Lee get close at any point.
The Wolf Pack squad will be back in action at the end of the month with a Feb. 27 matchup at Sonoma State followed by the Hornets at Sacramento State Feb. 28.
