RENO, Nev. – Nevada women's basketball junior
Amaya West has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week after helping the Wolf Pack to a 2-0 weekend.
West and the rest of the Wolf Pack completed a weekend sweep of Sacramento State yesterday, earning a 74-61 victory over the Hornets on Saturday and a 62-53 win on Sunday. Nevada is now 3-0 on the year.
West led the Pack averaging 13.5 points per game and 7.5 rebounds per game in the two contests, and was the only Nevada player to score in double figures in both games. West has scored in double figures in all three games this season. She shot 39 percent from the field this weekend and was perfect from the free throw line. The Mesa, Ariz. native also added four assists, three blocks and a steal to her weekend. On Saturday, West fell just one rebound shy of posting her first career double-double as she also finished with 14 points.
Nevada will host Fresno Pacific for its next contest this Friday, Dec. 18 at 1 p.m. inside Lawlor Events Center.
