RENO, Nev. – The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the prestigious Biletnikoff Award, has added eight receivers to its watch list for the award, including Nevada junior
Romeo Doubs.
The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver.
Doubs was added to the Biletnikoff Award watch list along with Calvin Austin III (Memphis), Ronnie Bell (Michigan), Jahan Dotson (Penn State), Ty Fryfogle (Indiana), Bo Melton (Rutgers), Jaquarii Roberson (Wake Forest) and Garrett Wilson (Ohio State).
Doubs is in the midst of an incredible junior season. Through just four games Doubs is the nation's leader in receiving yards per game, averaging a staggering 161.3 yards per game. Additionally, Doubs is fourth nationally with eight receiving touchdowns, is 12
th averaging 7.8 receptions per game and is 14
th with 645 total receiving yards, all of which rank at the top of the Mountain West. The Los Angeles native has recorded 100 receiving yards or more in all four games this season, including a 219-yard performance at UNLV, eighth-most in a single game in the FBS this season. In the Wolf Pack's last two games against Utah State and New Mexico Doubs has made six touchdown receptions, hauling in three in those back-to-back contests.
The semifinalists, finalists, and award recipient are selected by the highly distinguished Biletnikoff Award National Selection Committee, a group of prominent college football journalists, commentators, announcers, Biletnikoff Award winners, and other former receivers. The Biletnikoff Award candidate eligibility and voting criteria, transparently explicit and detailed, are available for review at BiletnikoffAward.com/criteria.
Recently, the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation opened the 2020 FanVote. Every fan may vote once daily on the Biletnikoff Award FanVote page. The aggregate fan tally will be counted as one official vote to determine semi-finalists (ten receivers), finalists (three receivers), and the winner.
