RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's basketball team remains on the road to face the defending Mountain West Champions, Boise State, this Saturday, Jan. 4 at 1 p.m. PT from ExtraMile Arena in Boise, Idaho.
Both Nevada and Boise State lost their last time out on Wednesday night with the Broncos falling on the road at Wyoming by five and the Wolf Pack also losing by five at Colorado State. The Broncos are one of two teams, along with Fresno State, in the conference who have 10 wins this season. The Wolf Pack is in search of its first league win of the 2019-20 season and trying to avoid starting conference play at 0-3. Nevada had two players post career highs Wednesday night as
Miki'ala Maio scored 20 points and
Dom Phillips added 17 points.

SERIES HISTORY
Nevada and Boise State is one of the longest running series' in program history. Saturday will mark the 59th meeting all-time between these two programs. It's been the Broncos though that have held a huge upper hand in the all-time series, winning 41 of the previous 58 contests. Boise State enters Saturday's game having won the last five games against Nevada. The Broncos also eliminated the Wolf Pack during the quarterfinals of last year's MW Championship.
MOUNTAIN WEST PLAYER OF THE WEEK
For the first time in her career, junior
Nia Alexander was named the MW Player of the Week on Monday. Alexander played a key role in helping Nevada to a 71-40 win over Cal Poly last weekend to close out non-conference action. She led the Wolf Pack with 14 points and 10 rebounds to post her first career double-double. She was flawless from the free throw line, making all eight of her attempts. She added two assists and a career-high four steals to her day as well. She is the second Wolf Pack player to earn the weekly honor from the conference as sophomore
Essence Booker took home the awards following the first week of the season.
NON-CONFERENCE SUCCESS
The Wolf Pack concluded its non-conference schedule by defeating Cal Poly 71-40, marking its largest margin of victory of the season and largest since February of 2015. The 40 points surrendered to the Mustangs is tied for seventh-fewest allowed by an opponent in program history. Nevada posted a 7-4 record in its non-league slate, marking its second winning record in non-conference play in two of the last three years. During that stretch the Pack outscored its opponents by an average of 5.9 points per game and outrebounded teams by 1.5 rebounds per game.

The Wolf Pack has been one of the best teams in the Mountain West in terms of sharing the basketball. Heading into Saturday's game at Boise State, Nevada ranks fifth in the conference in assists per game, averaging 14.00 per game. The Pack has dished out at least 10 assists in all but one of its 13 games, including a 20-assist game at Portland State. Nevada is led in the assist departmant by one of its rookies in Jená Williams. Williams has 31 assists to just 15 turnovers, and dished out a team-high five assists in the team's last win over Cal Poly. Alyssa Jimenez who has 17 assists to just five turnovers.

Imani Lacy has quietly been one of the most consistent Wolf Pack players through 13 games this season. She recorded the first double-double of her career with 16 points and 10 rebounds in the win over Stanislaus State. Lacy currently leads the team averaging 12.0 points per game. Additionally Lacy has been a force in blocking shots this season as she ranks first in the conference and 71st in the nation at 1.73 blocks per game. Her free throw shooting has been a point of emphasis as well, ranking eighth in the league at 68.0 percent.

Nevada will return home to Lawlor Events Center for a pair of Mountain West contests as the Pack will welcome in San Jose State next Wednesday, Jan. 8 at 6:30 p.m. and Utah State on Saturday, Jan. 11 at 1 p.m. Wednesday night's game will be the Pack's Special Olympics game and Saturday the team will host an LGBTQ Pride game.
