Nevada track signs new German athlete

RENO, Nev. – As the Nevada track and field team gets ready for the Ed Jacoby Invitational tomorrow, they have added another German-born athlete to the roster.

Luisa Fischer, the 17-year-old from Miltach, Germany has decided to take her talents to Nevada after she graduates this school year. Fischer mainly focuses in the heptathlon, her personal best being 5,047 points.

Fischer has had lots of success in the high jump and javelin events to be specific. Her high jump personal best being 1.69 meters and her javelin personal best being 42.73m. All of these personal bests have led her to many awards throughout her high school career.

The German-native athlete had many first place finishes in those events. In the Federal state championships in Bavaria, Germany, Fischer finished first in both the heptathlon (4,919 pts) and the long jump (5.58m) last year.

In that same championship, she earned second place in the high jump (1.67m), third place in the javelin (42.45m), and third place in the 4x100m relay (50.38).

The Pack will be starting the Ed Jacoby Invitational tomorrow as it looks to continue its successful indoor season.
