Wolf Pack ends Hawaii trip with 1-0 loss to Sacramento State

Back home on Saturday against Weber State

HONOLULU, Hawaii – In a gritty, 90 minute match on a neutral site in Honolulu, Hawaii, Nevada (1-3) couldn't find the net in a 1-0 loss to Sacramento State (2-1-1) on Monday night. The lone goal of the match came from a second-half penalty kick that gave the Hornets the victory.

Nevada is back at home on Saturday and will play in Mackay Stadium for the first time this season when it hosts Weber State at 12 p.m. PT. It will begin a five-match homestand for the Wolf Pack.

Sacramento State outshot Nevada 12-8 in the contest, but the Pack came alive in the second have outshooting the Hornets 7-5 with a late offensive push. Sophomore Kylie Minamishin led the way with three shots and one on goal, while senior Sara Olanda and freshman Gabby Brown each recorded two on the afternoon.

Aside from the penalty kick, goalkeeper Kendal Stovall was flawless in the match, as she saved both balls that came her way including a spectacular diving save in the second half.

Despite being outshot in the match, Nevada had possession of the ball for 55% of the contest and spent 67% of that time in Hornet territory. The Pack also gave itself opportunities with six corner kicks and didn't allow the Hornets a single one for 90 minutes.

Stovall is currently tied for first in the Mountain West Conference with 22 saves and is fourth with an .846 save percentage. Brown sits atop the conference with 19 shots on the season and still leads Nevada on the year with three points.
