Our final day in Spain was a free day for everyone to go to the beach, shop, or adventure on their own. Halie, Ashley, David, Davon, my mom and I took the train from Barcelona to Montserrat. Once off the train from Barcelona, we took a cable car (very large gondola) to get up to the Monastery at Monserrat. It was a five minute ride to the top of the mountain and each trip the cable car could carry up to 32 people. The views were absolutely amazing!! Once at the top, we learned about the history and daily routines of the monks who live there. Next we saw an amazing basilica which had a different look from the other cathedrals we had seen throughout Spain. The colors were darker, highlighting a lot of black, grey, green along with gold colors. This basilica also is home to the Black Madonna, which is also referred to as 'The Virgin of Montserrat' and 'La Morenata'.
 
We had a final team dinner on top of Las Arenas. This amazing structure is a former bull fighting arena that was completely gutted and turned into a shopping mall. The outside still looks as it did in its original state but once on the inside it transforms into a beautiful six level shopping center with lots of stores, restaurants, and our team's favorite-ice cream!!
 
This trip has been amazing. Our young women learned about a different culture, experienced a different part of the world, and made memories that will last them a lifetime. I also know this trip helped us grow on the court as a team. We saw a lot of positive things we will continue to build on as well as things we will need to improve on before our upcoming season. These games have allowed our staff to really identify how to improve our team and get them ready before November 5th against St Mary's!!
