SAN JOSE, Calif. – Thanks to phenomenal pitching performances by starter Ryan Anderson and reliever Grant Ford, Nevada (26-24, 12-16 MW) continues to hang tough in the race to make the Mountain West tournament with a 3-1 win at San Jose State (19-30, 12-13 MW). All three runs for the Wolf Pack came in the seventh inning, thanks to RBI from Joshua Zamora, Weston Hatten and Conor Allard.

Nevada will go for the series win over the Spartans tomorrow at 2 p.m. John Ramey will call the game on 94.1 FM/1450 AM.

Anderson earned a no decision, but played a large role in the Pack's win by tossing 5.2 shutout innings, only allowing four hits with six strikeouts. His most clutch inning came to start the game, as the Spartans put runners on the corners with nobody out. A strikeout and Marco Valenzuela gunning down a runner trying to steal second put Nevada in position to record the last out without any damage being done, a flyout to right field.

The Pack's first extra-base hit of the day came in the seventh inning, as Valenzuela led off the frame with a double. Freshman Nick Seamons struckout, but made his way to first base thanks to a wild pitch.

The first run of the day came courtesy of Zamora, who smacked Nevada's second double of the inning to score Valenzuela and move Seamons to third. Hatten then drilled a ball to deep center that was misplayed by the centerfielder and allowed Seamons to score. Zamora would later score on a sacrifice fly from Conor Allard to take a 3-0 lead.

Ford took over for Anderson with two outs in the fifth and pitch the rest of the way, picking up his fifth win of the season which ties the team high. He allowed one run in the eighth, but with the bases loaded recorded the loudest out of the night by getting his fifth strikeout of the night to end the frame.

There will be no live stream of tomorrow's contest. Saturday's game is slated for 2 p.m. while the series finale on Sunday will be played at 12 p.m.
