RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's track and field team will be split this week, with athletes competing in the heptathlon at Azusa Pacific's Bryan Clay Invitational and Multis, and the rest of the team competing in Stanford's Cardinal Classic. This will be the first competition for the Wolf Pack since winning the Mountain West Challenge two weeks ago in Las Vegas.
At last year's Bryan Clay Invitational, sophomore
Nicola Ader cleared a height of 5' 11.25" (1.81 m) in the high jump to move into second on the Nevada outdoor all-time list. Ader finished the heptathlon with a personal record 5,150 total points, good for seventh all-time at Nevada. Wednesday will be the first time this year Ader has competed in the heptathlon, after competing in open events at three meets this outdoor season.
Freshman
Anna Marie Sommerfeld competed in the heptathlon at the Hornet Invite last month, finishing second with a score of 3,913 despite not finishing the 800m.
The rest of the team will be in Stanford, Calif. for the Cardinal Classic, beginning Friday. At last year's Cardinal Classic, sophomore
Morgin Coonfield clocked a 5,000m time of 16:35.41 to debut at number two all-time at Nevada. Junior pole vaulter
Gaby Palmer moved up in the all-time list, and four other personal bests were recorded.
Both meets will be available to stream online through FloTrack, and results for all four days of competition will be available at nevadawolfpack.com/tf.
