RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada (10-9, 2-4 MW) men's tennis team dropped a 4-0 Mountain West match at the McArthur Tennis Center to Utah State (17-8, 5-1 MW) on Sunday. The loss leaves the Wolf Pack 10-9 on the season and 2-4 in conference action. The Aggies improved to 17-8 and 5-1 in MW play.
The Pack ends the MW regular season next Saturday at Fresno State before returning home to host Northern Colorado in a non-conference match on Sunday at 10 a.m.
The Aggies earned the doubles points with victories on courts 2 and 3. USU's Sergiu Bucurand and Duro Opacic defeated Delmas N'tcha and
Daniel Dudockin 6-0 on court 3 in the first completed match. The Pack's
Kostya Nesterenko and
Julien Evrard downed Jose Carvajal and Rithvik Bollipalli 6-4 to even the doubles competition at one victory apiece. The Aggies clinched the point on court 3 when Felipe Acosta and Isaac Arevalo Gómez scored a 6-4 victory over Nevada's
Jonathan Aremon and
Jeremy Merville.
USU won the three completed singles matches in straight sets on courts 6, 2, and 4. Acosta defeated Aremon 6-3, 6-4 to seal the victory for the Aggies. At No. 1 singles
Julien Evrard was leading 7-5, 4-3 when the match was clinched by USU.
