Lobos score six unanswered to top Nevada 6-4

Game two slated for 1 p.m. tomorrow

Reno, Nev. – After plating the first four runs of the game, Nevada (16-17, 6-10 MW) dropped its first of three games at New Mexico (16-17, 7-9 MW) on Friday night 6-4. Joshua Zamora led the Wolf Pack with three hits, including two doubles in the contest.

Ryan Anderson (4-2) suffered his second loss of the season after surrendering four earned runs in five innings pitched. The junior struck out one batter.

The Pack began the contest with a quality first inning offensively, as Zamora recorded his first hit of the day to drive home Weston Hatten who doubled off the first pitch of the game. Conor Allard then came up and knocked in Dillan Shrum on an RBI-Double.

Nevada put together another two-run inning in the third, as Allard recorded his team-high second RBI of the day when he grounded out, allowing Jaylon McLaughlin to score. Freshman Matt Clayton doubled down the left field line to score Zamora and give Nevada a 4-0 lead.

After ending the shutout with Jared Mang scoring on a fielder's choice in the fourth, a two-run bomb by the Lobos in the fifth got them within one run of the Pack. New Mexico took the lead in the fifth after a double by Connor Mang and a sacrifice fly gave them the 5-4 lead.

The Lobos scored the final run of the day in the seventh as Hayden Schilling tripled to score Jared Mang. The Lobos held that 6-4 lead the rest of the contest.
Game two will be tomorrow at 1 p.m. as Nevada will look to even the series. A live stream will be broadcast on the Mountain West Network.
