RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada (7-5) men's tennis team won its first match of the season at the McArthur Tennis Center downing Sacramento State (5-7) by a score of 5-2 on Thursday afternoon. The Wolf Pack snapped a three-match losing skid and improved to 7-5 while the Hornets fell to 5-7.
Nevada hosts two Mountain West matches over the weekend as Air Force (9-7, 0-1 MW) is in town on Saturday for a 2 p.m. match and New Mexico (5-6) on Sunday at 12 p.m. Livestats are available at https://nevadawolfpack.com/mten
The Pack scored the first point of the day wining the No. 1 and 2 doubles.
Jonathan Aremon and
Jeremy Merville won the first doubles match 6-4 on Court 2.
Julien Evrard and
Kostya Nesterenko clinched the point with a 6-4 victory at No. 1 doubles.
Matvey Radionov put the Pack up 2-0 with a straight set 6-3, 6-1 victory on Court 6 and Nesterenko's 6-2, 6-2 win at No. 2 singles made it 3-0.
Daniel Dudockin clinched the victory with his 6-2, 6-0 victory on Court 5. Nevada's
Gvidas Motuzas needed three sets to win his match 4-6, 6-4 and 11-9 to make the final score 5-2.
The Hornets won their two matches at No. 1 and 3 singles to score two points.
