SAN LOUIS OBISPO, Calif. – The University of Nevada (7-5) women's tennis team snapped a three-match losing skid knocking off Cal Poly (5-7) by a score of 4-1 at the Mustang Tennis Center on Saturday afternoon. The Wolf Pack improved to 7-5 on the season while the Mustangs dropped to 5-7.
Nevada hosts Sacramento State on Friday at 10 a.m. in the home opener at the McCarthur Tennis Center and Saturday Sonoma State is in town for an 11 a.m. match.
The Pack started the match by winning the doubles point and never trailed in the road victory.
Adriana Gergelyova and Melissa Hutchet scored a 6-4 victory on Court 2 to clinch the point.
Selina Turulja and
Maria Tatarnikova teamed up for a 6-4 victory on Court 3 to give the Pack the first win of the day.
Nevada won three of the four completed singles matches to clinch the victory. CP took the No. 3 singles match with a 6-0, 6-2 win by MacKensie Worsnop over
Roos van Reek to tie the match at 1-1.
Turulja won 6-3, 6-3 at No. 5 singles and
Marta Ruedas 6-3, 6-4 on Court 6 to put the Pack in front 3-1. Tatarnikova won 7-5, 6-3 on Court 3 to clinch the match for Nevada. The other two matches when unfinished.
