Reno, Nev. – In a back-and-forth affair for most of the contest, Nevada (11-9, 3-4 MW) fell in its first of three games at intrastate rival UNLV (13-10, 3-4 MW) on Friday night 7-6. Junior Dillan Shrum blasted his third home run of the year, while junior Wyatt Tilley hit his first homer in a Wolf Pack uniform.

This was the first game in 2019 that Nevada has suffered a loss when scoring at least six runs.

Junior Ryan Anderson received his first no-decision of the season, still holding a 4-1 record on the year as the Pack's Friday starter. Reliever Grant Ford (0-1) suffered his first loss of the season after giving up two runs in the eighth inning.

The game began with the Rebels getting on the board with three runs in the first, but the Pack would answer back in the third in a big way. Shrum tied the team-high with his third home run, blasting a three-run shot that brought Joshua Zamora and Kaleb Foster home to tie the game.

Tilley recorded his first of two RBI in the fourth, as he snuck an RBI-single into right field to give Nevada its first lead of the night with a 4-3 advantage. The Rebels tied the game in the home half of the inning, after Anderson hit a batter with the bases loaded.

With Tyler Smith pitching for the Pack, the Rebels took the lead back in the sixth inning with another RBI-single to gain a 5-4 one-run lead.

Tilley's first-career homer came in the ensuing inning, blasting a solo shot to knot the game up at five runs apiece. The Pack then gave itself its first lead since the fourth frame as junior Daniel Perry knocked in a clutch RBI-single to give Nevada a 6-5 lead. The Rebels would respond with two runs of their own in the bottom of the eighth and would hold the 7-6 lead retiring three-of-four Pack batters faced in the ninth to earn the win.

Nevada will look to even the series tomorrow against the Rebels, with first pitch slated for 6:05 p.m. John Ramey will have the call for Nevada on 94.1 FM/1450 AM, and a live stream will be available on the Mountain West Network.
