RENO, Nev. – The Nevada women's track and field team signed Italian javelin thrower Emanuela Casadei today. Casadei is a native of Cesena, Italy, but studied abroad and competed in Oregon in high school. The javelin thrower won the Oregon state championships in 2018 with a personal record of 145' 4" (44.30 meters).
"Very excited to add Emanuela to our program," said assistant coach
Scott Williamson, who oversees the javelin. "She is familiar with the west coast having been an exchange student in Oregon last year, where she was a state champion. She will add great quality and depth to the javelin, an event where we have had much success in the past."
Last season the Pack saw Katia Coquis-Lossio complete her career after finishing in the top four in the Mountain West for javelin in each of her four years. Coquis-Lossio also advanced to the NCAA West Prelims in each of her four years.
Casadei was recruited by three other schools, but chose Nevada because of the coaches, facilities and Reno area.
