SANTA BARBARA, Calif. – The University of Nevada women's tennis lost its first match of the spring falling 5-2 at Santa Barbara (2-1) on Friday.  The loss leaves the Wolf Pack 5-1 on the season while the Gauchos improved to 2-1.
 
UCSB earned the doubles point with victories on courts 2 and 3 with the match on court 1 going unfinished.   The Gauchos Tiffany Lagarde and Amit Lev-Ari won 6-3 over the Pack duo of Selina Turulja and Maria Tatarnikova at No. 3 doubles.  Santa Barbara clinched the point as Anastasia Goncharova and Juliana Valero defeated the Nevada team of Adriana Gergelyova and Roos vanReek 6-3 at No. 2 doubles.
 
The Gauchos won four of the five singles matches to win 5-2.   UCSB's Amit Lev-Ari made the score 2-0 with a 6-1, 6-2 victory on court 3 over the Pack's Melissa Huchet.  Adriana Gergelyova got Nevada within a point at 2-1 with her 6-2, 6-4 straight sets win on court 2.  UCSB won the next two matches in straight sets at No. 6 and 1 singles to clinch the victory.  Tiffany Lagarde earned the required fourth point in her 6-1, 7-5 win over Nevada's Lili Fekete at No. 1 singles.
 
The Pack's second win in the match came at No. 4 singles as Roos vanReek won a three-set slugfest.  vanReek lost the first set 6-3 but rallied to win the second 6-4 and the third set 7-6 by taking the tiebreaker 10-8.  In the final match UCSB won three sets on court 6.
