RENO, Nev. - Coming off a 3-1 weekend in Stockton, Calif. at the Libby Matson Tournament, the Nevada softball team is headed east to Fayetteville, Ark. to compete in the Wooo Pig Classic. The tournament is hosted by nationally-ranked Arkansas and will meet the Razorbacks on Friday night at 5:00 pm PT.
Nevada is set to play the Lady Demons of Northwestern State on Friday afternoon before the evening contest against Arkansas then turn around and play the first two games on Saturday. The first game against Omaha is scheduled for 9:00 am PT and then the second game against Northwestern State will begin around 11:15 pm PT. The Pack rounds the weekend off with a single game on Sunday against the Boston Terriers at 8:00 am PT.
Last time out, the Pack defeated California Baptist twice and took down Pacific in a five-inning run rule fashion. Nevada tallied double digit hits in both games for 24 combined hits on Saturday, Feb. 23.
Sierra Mello had easily her best weekend of the season, going 5-for-5 and hitting .517 on the weekend to extend her hitting streak to six games in a row and her on-base streak to nine games. Freshman
Dallas Millwood knocked her first collegiate home run and
Kenzi Goins notched her first of the season.
This weekend marks the first time Nevada with match up with Northwestern State and Boston U in school history. It also marks just the second time the Pack plays against the Razorbacks with the last meeting being in 2005 in California. Omaha and Nevada have previously played back in 2016, a doubleheader also in California, where the Pack won both.
