RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada (4-2) men's tennis team won its home opener 5-2 over Saint Mary's (1-5) at the Lakeridge Tennis Courts on Sunday afternoon.  With victory the Wolf Pack improved to 4-2 on the season while the Gaels fell to 1-5.
 
Nevada next plays at Santa Clara (6-3) on Sunday, March 3 at 11 a.m.  The match was postponed from earlier this season because of weather.
 
The Pack started the day by winning all three doubles matches to earn the first point.  Nevada's No. 2 team of Jeremy Merville and Jonathan Aremon won 6-2 over Matis Bot and Abhishek Bastola. Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesterenko earned a 6-4 victory on court 1 and the Pack clinched the point.  Dylan Levitt and Benjamin Campi made it a clean sweep with a 6-4 win at No. 3 doubles.
 
SMC won the first two completed singles matches as James Watt downed Nesterenko 6-3, 6-4 and Damon Kesaris defeated Evrard 6-3, 6-4 to put the Gaels in front 2-1.
 
That would be the last lead for SMC as Nevada won the next four matches to win the match 5-2.  Jonathan Aremon need two sets, including a tiebreark to down Bot 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) to even the score at 2-2 on court 4.  Jeremy Merville needed three sets to down Bastola 5-7, 7-5 and 6-3 to put the Pack back in front to stay 3-2. 
 
Daniel Dudockin clinched the victory with a 6-4, 6-4 straight sets win over David Abfalter to make it 5-2 on court 6.  Gvidas Motuzas gave Nevada its fifth and final point with a 6-3, 7-6 (8-6) victory at No. 5 singles over Daniel Krutik and Nevada had its fifth win of the season.
