COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – After another dual meet win for Nevada, Donna dePolo and Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez have collected the Mountain West honors this week. dePolo, a junior swimmer was named the swimmer of the week while Lopez, a sophomore diver took the diver of the week accolades for the second week in a row.
The Pack picked up its third win over a Mountain West team in Boise State, 187-113 on Saturday afternoon to move to 5-0 in dual meets and 3-0 against conference opponents.
dePolo, a Reno, Nev. native, swept her individual events, winning the 100 and 200 breaststroke while also being a member of the winning 200 medley relay. She won the 100 breast with a NCAA 'B' cut time of 1:01.57 and the 200 breast with a time of 2:14.55 while swimming the second leg of the 200 medley relay that finished in 1:40.90. Her time in the 100 breast is the 22nd fastest time in the NCAA this season while also leading the Mountain West in both events.
Lopez claimed wins in both the 1-meter and 3-meter events against the Broncos. The Guadalajara, Mexico native scored a 321.23 in the 1-meter for the second best dive in the Mountain West, and 338.18 in the 3-meter for the fourth best dive in conference. Lopez currently has three of the top five 3-meter dive scores this season.
This is a first career honor for dePolo and third for Lopez.
Nevada is now 5-0 in dual meets and has one invitational win on the year over Washington State, San Diego State and Idaho. Up next, the Pack will travel to Houston, Texas to participate in the Phill Hansel Invitational on Nov. 21-23.
