HOUSTON, Texas - The Nevada swim team has moved up to fifth after having a solid second day. Competition wraps up tomorrow with prelims beginning at 8 a.m. and finals at 1 p.m. PT.
The 200-yard medley relay started the day off with a second place finish with a time of 1:40.38. The squad comprised of Imogen Watson, Donna dePolo, Josien Wijkhuijs and Ileah Doctor. Houston won the event with a time of 1:38.76.
In the 400 IM, the Pack saw sophomore Julia Adamczyk, finish in the top five with a time of 4:20.73. She came in fifth overall and added 25 points to the team score. Sophomore, Wijkhuijs posted the top finish for Nevada with a tenth place finish in the 100 fly after finishing in 54.78. Watson finished 27th overall after taking third in the D final with a time of 56.63.
The 200 free was up next and Nevada placed two in the A final starting with Andressa Cholodovskis who came in third with a time of 1:46.68; good for an NCAA B cut time. Caitlyn McHugh was up next in sixth with a time of 1:48.59.
Junior dePolo picked up a school record in the 100 breast after swimming the event in 1:00.75 however that was just in the prelims. She held on to the school record for a total of six hours before teammate Wiktoria Samula sealed her second place finish and is now the school record holder with a time of 1:00.62. Both however swam NCAA 'B' cut times in the finals.
The final individual event of the night was the 100 yard backstroke. Watson, after just competing in the 100 fly, turned around and placed a team high ninth place with a time of 56.00. Montana Lloyd took second in the E final and 34th overall to round out the event.
dePolo, Cholodovskis, Adamczyk and McHugh in the 800 free relay concluded the night with a third place finish. The squad posted a time of 7:23.40 and picked up 54 points to secure the fifth place position for the Pack with 471 points.
The Pack continues competition tomorrow, Nov. 23 at 8 a.m. with prelims and finals beginning at 1 p.m. PT.
