Nevada set for final road matches of the regular season

RENO, Nev. - With just four matches in the regular season remaining for Nevada volleyball, the Pack takes back to the road for the final two away matches of the year. First up for Nevada is a rematch with UNLV before traveling to Albuquerque, NM to take on the Lobos of New Mexico.

Nevada (17-9, 7-7) meets with UNLV (15-10, 11-3) on Thursday, Nov. 14 at 7 pm in the final matchup for volleyball points in the Silver State Series. The Silver State Series is presented by IBEW Local 401 and Nevada Donor Network and is a structured rivalry series that matches the Wolf Pack and Rebels in sports and academics.

Following Thursday, the Pack travels to Albuquerque to meet with the Lobos on Saturday, Nov. 16th for a noon first serve. Both matches will be on the Mountain West Network and have live stats available.

The last time Nevada met with both of these teams was in mid-October and unfortunately were matches two and three of a five-match losing streak that was finally snapped in a win over Utah State; these opponents will be looking for the season sweep of the Wolf Pack.

However, this time the Pack is headed into these match ups with the momentum in its favor. Nevada swept Air Force on Saturday, 3-0 in Colorado to wins its seventh conference match. UNLV took the match against Utah State, 3-0 but New Mexico lost to Boise State, 3-1. The Lobos match up with SJSU on Thursday prior to hosting the Pack.

Sydney Petersen was named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week after her performances against Air Force and San José State. The freshman is still leading the team in total blocks while maintaining second in the Mountain West. Kayla Afoa is just a shy 49 digs away from tallying 1,000 in her Nevada career while Dalyn Burns is still sitting pretty in fifth in all-time assists.

Following these two road matches, the Pack hosts the top two teams in the conference, including nationally-ranked Colorado State next week. Wyoming comes to Reno on Thursday, Nov. 21 for a 6 pm match before a noon contest with the Rams on Saturday, Nov. 23. That Saturday will also be senior day as the three seniors will be recognized post match.
