RENO, Nev. The Nevada women's swim and dive team continues to roll past opponents and tonight was no different, taking the win over Fresno State, 179-102. This is the third straight dual meet win for Nevada and the second Mountain West win.
The Pack took first in 12 of the 15 events on the evening, including the 3-meter diving event, 1000 free and the 400 free relay. Senior, Andressa Cholodovskis won the 200 free and the 100 free before anchoring the winning relay with a time of 3:30.60. Josien Wijkhuijs also claimed two events for herself in the 100 fly (55.48) and the 50 free (23.83) before joining Cholodovsksis in the relay.
Wiktoria Samula won the 100 breast and the 200 breast to help the momentum stay with Nevada while Lindsey Soule recorded a first in the 1000 free with a time of 10:33.31. A local Reno swimmer in Benedict Nagy tallied a win in the 400 IM in 4:28.29.
The winning of events just continued with firsts in the 500 freestyle, courtesy of Caitlyn McHugh and a first in the 100 back from Imogen Watson with a time of 55.94. Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez secured her win in the 3-meter diving event with a score of 358.13.
Colette Berkenfield took second in both the 50 free and the 100 free but was a member of the winning relay that wrapped the night up. Another freshman, Jessie Nowotny finished second in the 1-meter with a final score of 298.58, the top Nevada finisher in that event.
Tomorrow, Nevada hosts UC Davis in another dual meet, a traditional 16-event lineup with a free 1-hour technique lesson for kids in the 8th grade or younger that are deemed water safe. As always, fans can keep up with at the is Nevada swim and dive on social media @NevadaSwim.
