RENO, Nev. – The Nevada swimming and diving team is headed to Albuquerque, New Mexico to take on the New Mexico Lobos in the final dual meet of the season. Competition begins on Saturday, Feb. 2 at 11 a.m. PT with the 1-meter diving event.
The last time Nevada was in the pool was January 15th when the Pack took on UNLV in a dual meet that resulted in Nevada winning, 192-106 and moving the team to a 7-1 dual record. New Mexico last competed against their in-state rival, New Mexico State and took the win 176.5-123.5, giving them a 3-0 dual record.
This marks the third time these teams have seen each other this season and the first time in dual meet style. The first time these two matched up was at the Pacific Invitational where the Pack outscored the Lobos, 845.5-726 but New Mexico finished above Nevada at the Phill Hansel Invite, 891-863.
Nevada and New Mexico are both looking for last regular season times and scores before they head to Minneapolis, Minn. to compete at the 2018-19 Mountain West Championship on Feb. 20-23. This meet also marks competition debuts for diver Laura Isabel Vazquez Lopez and swimmer Wiktoria Samula, both were mid-year additions to the Pack.
