DAVIS, Calif. – The University of Nevada men's tennis team opened the spring schedule splitting a pair of matches at the Marya Welch Tennis Center on the UC Davis campus today. The Wolf Pack fell 4-3 to UC Davis in the first match the scored a 6-1 victory over Holy Names in the second match of the day.
Nevada concludes its weekend at Pacific at noon on Sunday.
UCD won the doubles point winning the No. 2 and 3 matches to take an early 1-0 advantage.
The Pack got a 6-2, 6-4 victory from
Jonathan Aremon on court 5 in the first completed singles match and it was 1-1.
The Aggies took a 3-1 lead after wins on courts 3 and 2. The Pack's
Julien Evrard won in straight sets 6-4, 7-6 over Ivan Thamma to get Nevada within a point 3-2. UCD's Arjith Jayaraman defeated the Pack's
Daniel Dudockin in three sets 6-1, 5-7 and 6-4 to clinch the victory for the Aggies.
Matvey Radionov won in three sets 3-6, 7-6, and 7-6 to earn Nevada its final point of the match and make final 4-3.
Nevada jumped to a 1-0 lead in the win over Holy Names with victories at No. 1 and 2 doubles. The Pack won the first five completed singles matches in straight sets on the way to the 6-1 victory.
Aremon won his second match of the day with 6-4, 6-1 victory on court 3,
Kostya Nesterenko was victorious 6-3, 6-2 on court 1, and Dudockin clinched the match after a 6-3, 6-2 victory at No. 5 singles. Gvidas Motuzas won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4 singles and
Benjamin Campi earned a 6-4, 6-4 victory on court 6. The Pack loss came at No. 2 singles where the Hawks Hugo Colpart defeated Nevada's Delma N'tcha 6-7, 6-2, and 1-0 (10-4).
