SACRAMENTO, Calif. – In a furious comeback effort on Friday night, the Nevada soccer team (3-2-1) lost to Sacramento State (1-4-1) in a 3-2 finish. The match concluded a five-game stretch for the Wolf Pack away from home.

Nevada trailed 3-0 with 40 minutes left in the second half, but goals by sophomore Hannah Souza and senior Mackenzie Robinson made it a one-score game with just over 27 minutes to go.

With only three shots on the day compared to the Hornets' 10, the Pack had its only two on goal find the net for scores. The first came when Souza dribbled past the defense in the 54th minute and putthe ball strategically into the lower left corner for the score.

Robinson's third career goal came just eight minutes later in the 62nd minute when she and fellow freshman Payton Lieb battled in front of the net against the Hornet defense. After multiple deflections, Lieb was able to tap the ball to her senior while on the ground, and Robinson did the rest to make the contest 3-2.

The Hornet's defense locked down the rest of the way, as the Pack was held scoreless for the remainder of the match. Nevada was only awarded one corner kick to the Hornets' four.

Freshman keeper Kendal Stovall finished her afternoon with five saves. She made multiple clutch plays down the stretch to keep the Pack within striking distance.

Nevada will be in Mackay Stadium for the first time this season on Thursday, Sept. 13 against Hawai'i with tickets on sale now.
