LOGAN, Utah – After an even match through 89 minutes, Nevada (3-5-2, 0-2 MW) fell to Utah State (2-7-0, 1-1 MW) on a last-second penalty kick 1-0 on Sunday afternoon.
Nevada recorded six shots on the day, all coming in the first half, with four on goal. Freshman goalkeeper
Kendal Stovall recorded four saves to give her 13 in conference play.
The first half was controlled by Nevada, after outshooting the Aggies 6-3 through the first 45 minutes. Freshmen
Kylie Minamishin,
Payton Lieb and
Casey Crawford all registered shots on goal.
The match remained deadlocked at 0-0 until the final minute of play, when Ashley Cardozo of the Aggies was granted a penalty kick with just 11 seconds left in regulation. Her goal lifted USU past the Pack for its first conference victory of the season.
Nevada ended its afternoon with four corner kicks compared to the Aggies' three. Each team was called offside one.
