BOISE, Idaho – Even with freshman goalkeeper
Kendal Stovall's nine-save career day, Nevada (3-4-2, 0-1 MW) lost a heartbreaker at Boise State (7-2-0, 1-0 MW) on Friday afternoon 2-1. Senior
Angel Meriwether recorded her first goal of the season and eighth of her career.
Stovall's nine saves were the most by a Wolf Pack keeper since 2017 when
Jamie Flynn recorded 14 at UNLV.
The first half began slow for the Pack, as it was unable to record a shot in the opening 45 minutes. The Broncos capitalized in the 20th minute, as McKenna Kynett recorded her first goal of the afternoon on a header that snuck past Stovall.
The Pack trailed 1-0 at half time, but erased the deficit shortly after they came back into action. Meriwether slipped past the defense and skipped the ball by the outstretched arms of keeper Tara Fisher to tie the match up at 1-1.
Stovall and the Nevada defense did an excellent job containing Raimee Sherle, the conference leader in goals scored with nine. Stovall stuffed Sherle on all five shots on goal she attempted.
What proved to be the game-winner came in minute 54, as Kynett recorded her second goal of the afternoon. After the first BSU shot was blocked by Kendal, Kynett stormed in and tapped in the rebound to give the Broncos a 2-1 advantage.
The match concluded with Nevada totaling seven shots and two corner kicks. Freshman
Payton Lieb led the Pack with three shots, while Meriwether and sophomore
Hannah Souza recorded the only shots on goal.
The Pack will be on the road again on Sunday, this time at MW foe Utah State. Tickets for the rest of the season are available at
