MORAGA, Calif. – On Sunday afternoon, Nevada (3-1-1) suffered its first loss of the season at Saint Mary's (3-3) by a score of 1-0. Freshman
Kendal Stovall made three saves in the contest.
The first half was a strong defense performance by both sides, as each team only recorded two shots on goal in the opening 45 minutes.
The lone goal of the day came in the 56th minute by SMC's Jordyn Cunningham. She was able to capitalize on a turnover deep in Nevada territory and get behind Stovall for the score.
The Gaels outshot the Pack nine to eight. Each side finished with four shots on goal.
Wolf Pack freshmen
Payton Lieb and
Kylie Minamishin each led Nevada with two shots on the afternoon. One of Minamishin's shots went on goal, but was saved.
Even with the loss, Nevada's 3-1-1 start to the year still ranks as its second-best in program history.
Nevada will play its next match on Friday when it travels to face Sacramento State. The Pack will be back in Mackay Stadium on Sept. 13 against Hawai'i with tickets
on sale now.
