Box Score COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – A shutout at Air Force on Sunday gave the Nevada men's tennis team (12-4, 1-1 MW) its first conference victory of the season by defeating the Falcons (10-10, 0-2 MW) 4-0. Senior Robert Margitfalvi ended the match after his singles victory on court No. 3.
The Wolf Pack improved its doubles record to 2-2 in conference play after winning both matches on Sunday. Margitfalvi and freshman Jeremy Merville brought their non-conference doubles dominance to Mountain West play by clinching the point with a 6-4 victory over Tadhg Collins and Luke Sanderson. Sophomores Julien Evrard and Kostya Nesternko also grabbed a victory on court No. 1, downing the Falcons 6-3.
Merville gave Nevada a 2-0 lead after downing Max Olson on court No. 4 in straight sets 6-4, 6-2. He is the only member of the Wolf Pack to win both conference singles matches so far this season.
Evrard extended Nevada's lead after a 6-2, 7-6 victory on court No. 1 that ended with a 7-3 tie breaker. Margitfalvi clinched the Pack's first MW victory with a 6-3, 1-6, 6-1 defeat of Sanderson on court No. 3.
The Pack will stay on the road, facing Utah State and Boise State next Friday and Sunday.
