Box Score LOS ANGELES, Calif. – Playing its second ranked opponent in as many days, the Nevada men's tennis team (6-2) dropped its second straight match at No. 42 Loyola Marymount (6-2) on Sunday afternoon 7-0.
For the first time this season, Nevada lost the doubles point after falling in the first two matches. On court No. 2, Robert Margitfalvi and Jeremy Merville dropped to 7-1 as a tandem after falling 6-3 to Charles Boyce and Lucas Moreno. LMU clinched the point on court No. 1 when Nick Borchenko and Gabriel Diaz Freire topped Kostya Nesterenko and Julien Evrard 6-4.
The Lions swept the singles matches, starting with Boyce's 6-2, 6-4 victory over Merville on court No. 4. The clinching point came on court No. 5, where Augustin Delahodde fell to Botchenko 6-3, 6-4.
The top-two courts took their matches to a third set, as Margitfalvi battled back against Moreno but fell 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. Sophomore Julien Evrard had the longest match of the day, with each of the first two sets going to a tie breaker. Evrard fell to Diaz Freire 6-7 (4-7), 7-6 (8-6), 10-3.
Nevada will play its home opener next Sunday against Eastern Washington. The match is slated for 10 a.m. PST.
