RENO, Nev. – Nevada (4-10-2, 1-7 MW) suffered its worst loss of the season on Sunday afternoon, falling 5-1 to New Mexico (8-5-2, 4-2-2 MW) at home. Senior Bryanna Wiehe scored her first goal of the season in the defeat.

This was the first loss for Nevada this season not decided by one goal.

The two schools were deadlocked through the first 20 minutes of play, until a penalty kick was awarded to the Lobos' Amelia Bierle. She was able to put her shot past freshman keeper Kendal Stovall to give New Mexico a 1-0 lead.

Eleven minutes later, Nevada earned a corner kick and was able to capitalize and tie the match. In the 33rd minute, freshman Kylie Minamishin fed Wiehe a perfect ball on the corner that allowed the senior to notch her first goal of the season and tie the match at one going into the half.

Stovall was able to make a plethora of athletic saves in the second half, and ended with seven on the afternoon. However, the Lobo offense heated up and scored four more goals in the second half to give it a 5-1 victory.

Nevada finished its afternoon with five shots. Senior Angel Meriwether led Nevada with two and one going on goal.

This was the first time all season Nevada allowed five goals. It only allowed more than two scores one time, when it lost at Sacramento State 3-2.

The Pack will hit the road this weekend to face Wyoming and Colorado State this Friday and Sunday. Nevada's regular-season finale will be in Mackay Stadium on Friday, Oct. 26 where the Pack will celebrate Senior Day. Tickets for the contest are available at NevadaWolfPack.com.
