Stephens scores 19 to help Nevada blast Utah State 83-57

Pack 5-0 in MW play for the first time

RENO, Nevada (AP) Kendall Stephens scored 19 points with five 3-pointers and Jordan Caroline added 16 points as Nevada throttled Utah State 83-57 on Saturday night for its fifth straight win.  Nevada improved to 5-0 for the first time in Mountain West play and has won 14 consecutive home game, the third longest streak in school history.

Alex Dargenton's layup 29 seconds into the game was the Aggies' only lead of the game. Nevada went on a 13-0 run and was in control the rest of the way. Caleb Martin had a jumper and a 3-pointer and Cody Martin added a jumper and two free throws in less than three minutes.

Utah State posted a 10-2 run and Koby McEwen had consecutive 3s to reduce its deficit to 29-24, but after a TV timeout, Nevada (16-3, 5-0 Mountain West Conference) erupted for a 17-0 run with 3s from Lindsey Drew and a pair from Stephens and went to halftime ahead 50-26.

Caleb Martin had two free throws with 12:46 left and the Wolf Pack were up 30. Martin scored 15 points and Drew added 11.

Dwayne Brown Jr. led Utah State (10-9, 3-3) with 13 points and McEwen and Quinn Taylor each scored 10.

Game Notes:

 Nevada improved to 16-3 and 5-0 in Mountain West play after its 86-75 win over Utah State (10-9, 3-3 MW) today.

The Wolf Pack plays at San José  State (3-14, 0-6 MW) on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m.  The game will air on CBS Sports Network.

Nevada is 5-0 in Mountain West play for the first time.

Nevada has won its last 14 home games which is the third longest streak in school history.

 Nevada's 22 fast break is the most by the Wolf Pack in a MW game.

 The Pack has scored 28 points off opponent turnovers in each of the last two games which is the most by a Nevada team in MW play.

 Nevada is the only undefeated team in MW play.

 The Pack is 38-4 at home under third-year head coach Eric Musselman.

 The 2016-17 team also started the year 16-3.

 Nevada's 24-point halftime lead equaled its largest of the season.  The Wolf Pack also led 50-26 at Santa Clara earlier this season.

 Kendall Stephens came off the bench for the first time this season and scored a game-high 19 points.  It was his second time leading the Pack in scoring.

 Stephens has made five or more 3-pointers in a game seven times this season.

 For the 10th time Nevada had four players score in double figures; Stephens (19), Jordan Caroline (16), Caleb Martin (15) and Linsey Drew (11).

 The Pack has won its last 11 MW games and last 14 vs. MW opponents when you include the three played at the 2017 MW Tournament last season.

 The Wolf Pack is 27-1 in its last 28 home games and 31-2 in the last 33.
