Nevada wins 12th consecutive MW game downing SJSU 71-54

Conference leading Wolf Pack hosts second place Boise State Saturday

SAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) Caleb Martin scored 24 points, Kendall Stephens added 19 with five 3-pointers, and Nevada beat San Jose State 71-54 on Wednesday night.

Nevada (17-3, 6-0 Mountain West) won its 12th straight conference game.

Josh Hall added 10 points with seven rebounds for Nevada, which has seven road wins this season. The Wolf Pack hit 9 of 27 3-pointers and 20 of 25 free throws. Nevada has had a 20-point scorer in 17 of 20 games this season.

Nevada had season-lows for points (24), field goals (eight), and shooting percentage (26.7) in the first half. But the Wolf Pack hit 13 of 22 shots in the second half (59.1 percent), including 6 of 11 3-pointers.

Brandon Mitchell led San Jose State (3-15, 0-7) with 18 points and seven rebounds. The Spartans have lost seven straight.

Nevada improved to 17-3 and 6-0 in Mountain West play after its 71-54 win at San Jose State State (3-15, 0-7 MW) tonight.

First place Nevada hosts second place Boise State (16-3, 6-1 MW) on Saturday night at Lawlor Events Center with tip set for 7 p.m.

Nevada has won its last 12 Mountain West games and last 15 vs. MW opponents when you include the three at the 2017 conference tournament.

The 17-3 record after 20 games in the best start under third-year head coach Eric Musselman.

Musselman is now 69-24 at Nevada.

Nevada's 24 points at halftime is the lowest first half point total of the season.

Caleb Martin scored a game-high for the 10th time this season with his 24 points.  It was the 11th time he led the Pack in scoring.

Nevada has had a player scored 20 or more points in 17-of-20 games this season and a Pack player scored 19 in the other three games.

Kendall Stephens has made five or more 3-pointers in a game eight times this season.
