DAVIS, Calif. – Senior Peter O'Donovan and freshman Jeremy Merville each advanced to the semifinals in the Singles B bracket of the Aggie Invitational on Saturday afternoon. Fellow freshman Dylan Levitt advanced to the semifinals in the Singles B consolation bracket after winning both matches on the day.
After all four Wolf Pack doubles tandems reached the semifinals on Friday, Robert Margitfalvi and O'Donovan reached the finals in the Doubles A bracket after defeating Jonathan Star and Ivan Thamma 8-7 (5). The two seniors posted an 8-7 record when playing together last season. The duo will battle Connor Heap and Bjorn Hoffmann tomorrow at 8:30 a.m.
After taking down Christopher Clayton from Sacramento State 3-6, 6-3, 6-4, O'Donovan advanced to the semifinals and is set to face Dominic Barretto from Cal tomorrow. In his first collegiate action, Merville has won his first three singles matches and defeated Kamran Khan from Santa Clara in the quarterfinals 6-3, 6-3.
Levitt lost in his first singles match on Friday, but rebounded on Saturday winning two matches in the consolation bracket. The freshman will take on Chethan Swanson from UC Davis tomorrow for a chance to play in the finals.
