FEDERAL WAY, Wash. – The Nevada swimming and diving team won its first invitational of the season on Sunday, after coming out on top at the Husky Invite. The three-day event saw the Wolf Pack swim some of its fastest times of the year, which helped lead Nevada to a total of 1,324.5 points, nearly 500 points more than Seattle U, Oregon State, University of San Diego and UCSB.
For the third time in as many days, sophomore
Andressa Cholodovskis won an individual event, placing first in the 100-yard freestyle with a time of 50.22, which is the team's best mark this season. She was followed by junior
Rebecca Murray, who finished the event in 50.37 to finish in third.
Cholodovskis, along with junior
Caitlyn Richardson, completed the weekend as some of the best swimmers at the Husky Invite. While Richardson finished second amongst all other competitors with a total of 99 points accumulated, Cholodovskis finished behind her in third, earning 96 points for Nevada.
The Pack had a strong showing in the 200-yard backstroke today as seniors
Kate Hofmeyer (1:59.07) and
Jaeger Turner (2:00.70) took the event's top two spots. In the 1,650-yard freestyle, freshman
Caitlyn McHugh placed third after she recorded a 16:48.96, which now ranks sixth in program history.
Following a 2:15.44 performance in the prelims of the 200-yard breaststroke, freshman
Donna dePolo recorded another top three finish for Nevada, placing third in the event. With about a month break on the schedule, the Pack's next competition will be Jan. 12, when the team travels to Hayward, Calif. to take on Cal State East Bay for a dual.
