LOS ANGELES, Calif. – The first day of the LMU Invitational wrapped up Friday afternoon with three members of the Nevada men's tennis team earning singles victories. The Wolf Pack will face San Diego State tomorrow in singles at 9 a.m.
Senior Robert Margitfalvi recorded the most dominant victory of the day, defeating Pepperdine's Scotland Garapedian in straight sets 6-2, 6-1. It took three sets, but junior Jonathan Aremon was victorious over Felipe Galvao of Pepperdine after coming back to win 2-6, 6-2, 6-1. The Waves only brought five players with them, so senior Peter O'Donovan played against and defeated Ethan Prost of Loyola Merymount University 6-4, 6-1.
In doubles play, Nevada won two out of three matches against LMU. Sophomores Kostya Nesterenko and Julien Evrard defeated Nick Borchenko and Charles Boyce 8-4, while sophomore Augustin Delahodde and freshman Jeremy Merville were victorious over Ryan Brown and Diego Nava 8-6. Margitfavli and O'Donovan lost just their second doubles match of the fall in a close 8-7 defeat to Gabriel Diaz and Lukas Moenter.
