Day One Results
SAN JOSE, Calif. - The Nevada women's golf team completed the first two rounds of the Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational on Monday and head into the final round on Tuesday.
It was a warm day over in San Jose as none of the 11 teams in the field were able to stay under par. The lowest finishing team was BYU who leads at 14-over par. The Wolf Pack are at 30-over after a score of 296 in the morning and 310 in the afternoon. Nevada will enter tomorrow's final round tied for seventh with Gonzaga.
Junior Celyn Khoo, who was the Pack's top finisher in its last tournament, is just outside the top 10 in sole possession of 11th place. Khoo had a perfect opening round, collecting two birdies and no bogeys en route to a 2-under 70 and was tied for the individual lead. She struggled in afternoon session however making just one birdie and carded a 78.
Freshman Mari Nishiura matched her season-best round with a 74 in round two. Combined with her opening 76 she is tied for 14th at 6-over par. Another rookie, Katy Rutherford who is playing in her first collegiate tournament, is tied for 20th place after rounds of 74 and 77 on Monday. Sophomore Chaithra Katamneni's second round did not go the way she had planned as she carded an 81 and is tied for 45th. Rounding out the Pack golfers is junior Jordan Keyser who is in 55th place at 18-over par.
