RENO, Nev. - The Nevada women's basketball team welcomes Cal State Stanislaus to Lawlor Events Center Saturday afternoon, Nov. 5, for a free exhibition contest. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m.
Saturday afternoon's match up against the Warriors will be the final game tune-up for the Wolf Pack before beginning the 2016-17 regular season next Friday, Nov. 11 at 6:30 p.m. at home against Long Beach State.
At the helm of the program for her ninth season is Jane Albright, who will be embarking on her 33rd year as a NCAA head coach. After obtaining the 500th win of her career last season, she ranks in the top 35 among active women's basketball coaches at the Division I level in career wins.
Albright and her staff, which remains unchanged from last season, return three starters from last season in senior Stephanie Schmid and juniors Teige Zeller and Halie Bergman. Sophomore Riana Everidge, who was named to the all-freshman team by the Mountain West, also started a handful of games last season and is back for year two.
Nevada was plagued by injuries last year, losing three starters through the first three games, but Albright will get back two of those three back in guards T Moe and Ashlee Jones. In addition to the seven returning letterwinners, Albright added five newcomers in the offseason.
The Wolf Pack's opponent, Cal State Stanislaus, finished 2015-16 with a 16-11 overall record and was fourth in the California Collegiate Athletic Association (CCAA). The Warriors' top returner is senior Cassidy Sanders-Curry, who was selected to the All-CCAA second team last season after averaging nearly 10 points per game and 5.1 rebounds per game.
Season tickets for women's basketball are just $60 for adults, $55 for youth (8th grade and under) and $40 for seniors (65+). Call 775.348.PACK or register online for more information.
