Round two results
DENVER, Colo. - Playing in round two of the Ron Moore Women's Collegiate Saturday afternoon, the Nevada women's golf team carded a much improved second round.
The Wolf Pack began the day in a tie for 15th place and jumped three spots on the day to 12th. Nevada shaved eight shots off its first round score and carded a team score of 297. The Pack is at 26-over for the tournament and is six strokes out of the top 10. Pepperdine continues to pace the field at 6-under, four shots better than second place Denver. The Waves and Pioneers are the only two teams in the 18-team field currently under par.
Nevada was led in the second round by freshman Mari Nishiura, who tied her career-low of 73. Her round of 1-over par vaulted her into a tie for 46th. She paced the team with four birdies on the day, including back-to-back on No. 17 and 18. Overall on the individual leaderboard the Pack is led by sophomore Chaithra Katamneni who is tied for 37th at 6-over par for the tournament.
Junior Jordan Keyser is tied with Nishiura for 46th after putting together a 4-over round of 76 on Saturday. Freshman Katy Rutherford tied her career-low of 74 today, improving from her first round by four shots. She enters the final round tied for 50th in the 102-player field. Playing in her first tournament this season, senior Bertille DuPont is tied for 57th at 9-over par.
There is a two-way tied for the individual lead between Hira Naveed of Pepperdine and Sophie Newlove of Denver. They are both at 4-under par and lead by one shot.
