BERKELEY, Calif. - After falling to UC Santa Barbara in the first day of the Molten Classic, the Nevada volleyball team could not muster a victory in the Saturday doubleheader as the Wolf Pack were topped by Cal, 3-1, and Pacific, 3-1.

Senior Tessa Lea'ea tallied 32 kills and eight blocks over the course of three-day tournament while sophomore Lyndsey Anderson recorded 106 assists and 28 digs.

Nevada took an early 9-6 lead against Pacific on a kill from Anderson in the first set before the Tigers regained the lead on their way to winning the set, 25-23.

Late in the second frame, after falling behind 22-17, a kill from junior Sommer King and a Pacific error cut the Tiger lead to three. The Pack would score only once more though as Pacific would win the set, 25-20.

The Pack used a 6-1 run to take a 9-6 lead in the third frame as Nevada won the set, 25-21 with the help from Kinsey Minter, who totaled three key kills and two digs in the set.

With the Tigers up 15-10, the Pack rallied with back-to-back points that forced the Tigers to call a timeout. Minter, Lea'ea and junior Sam Willoughby each tallied three kills in the set but it wasn't enough as Pacific claimed the set and the match, 3-1.

In the first match of the day, after starting out slow, the Pack cut Cal's lead to three, 15-12, in the first set. The Golden Bears then used a 4-1 run to go up 19-13 on its way to a 25-18 first set victory.

The Pack took its first lead of the match in the second frame on a kill from senior Tessa Lea'ea that put Nevada up 10-9. The Pack then took advantage of three Cal errors down the stretch to go up 20-17, its biggest lead of the match. Key kills from Lea'ea and Willoughby helped Nevada win the second set, 25-23, to tie the match score at 1-1 heading into the break.

After dropping the third set, the Pack could not top the home team in the fourth as the Golden Bears claimed the set and the match, 3-1.
Freshman Madison Foley tallied a team-high and career-high 11 kills in the loss to Cal.

Nevada will return to action on Friday, Sept. 19, at the Denver Invitational, the Pack's final tournament of the 2014 campaign.
