After posting her second double-double of the season last week, Nevada women’s basketball senior Marguerite Effa has been named the Wolf Pack Student-Athlete of the Week.
Â
Effa was virtually unstoppable in the Wolf Pack’s overtime loss to San José State last Wednesday, posting a career-high 31 points to go along with a career-best 15 rebounds. It marked Effa’s second double-double this season and first since Nov. 9. In her 21 shot attempts she made 15 of them to connect on 71.4 percent for the game. Effa became just the fifth player in the Mountain West this season to score 30+ points in a single game, and is the only player to do so while adding a double-double.
Â
She followed that up with an 11-point performance in the Pack’s win over Utah State, giving her double digit scoring outputs in back-to-back games. For the week she shot 71.4 percent, hitting 20-of-28 from the field, and added three blocks and an assist.
